Staff Bios

Laura:

As the manager of the rock climbing facility, Laura has been with Sunset Athletic Club since the opening of the climbing facility in November of 2004. She has a graduate degree in Sports and Fitness Management and a career background in fitness. Laura's passion for climbing began in graduate school and she redirected her career to follow it.

Nolan:

Nolan has a degree in outdoor education and has worked at indoor climbing gyms, as an outdoor climbing guide and at a retail store focused on outdoor gear. He has a passion for teaching climbing and has a wide array of knowledge to share. 

Steve:

Steve has been working in outdoor and experential education for more than ten years, doing everything from teaching climbing both indoors and out, to leading hikes, to working at a ropes course and conducting corporate team building activities. He has a passion for the outdoors and helping people find their comfort in new situations.  

Annie:

Annie began climbing at Sunset Athletic Club shortly after the climbing wall opened in 2004, and joined the competition training program in 2007, during the very first season. She has joined the staff as a junior staff person, working at camps and rentals, when she is not studying, as a dedicated high school student.

David:

As a college student at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado, David gets out to climb as much as possible. When he is home on school breaks, he shares his passion for climbing at Sunset Athletic Club, where he found that passion and spent three years on the competitive climbing team.

Keith:

With more than 30 years of climbing experience, Keith has been climbing longer than many of the other staff members have been alive. As a retired high school teacher and coach, as well as an outdoor adventure guide, he has a wealth of knowledge to share.

Job Description: Rock Climbing Wall Staff

Climbing staff work with both adults and kids during open climb times, climbing camps, birthday parties and other events. Job includes safety checks on the climbing wall, monitoring climbers for safety, belaying for climbers, route setting, and other climbing wall related tasks as they come up. Climbing staff work alone at times and with other staff at times.

Job Requirements: Rock Climbing Wall Staff

Staff must be at least 18 years of age to work alone; highly responsible and reliable; comfortable with the responsibility of climbers and their safety; experienced at both indoor and outdoor climbing; CPR and First Aid certified. 

Hours: Hours are part-time.
